French Government Honors Julien Benichou

          Maestro Julien Benichou was awarded the highly prestigious Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres at the residence of the Ambassador of France, H.E. Laurent Bili in Washington, DC.  on June 20th, 2024.

         The ceremony was attended by dozens of associates and friends of Maestro Benichou.  The Award is one of the highlights of a distinguished career acting as head of numerous orchestras and musical organizations.  His career has also brought him prominence as a guest conductor throughout the world.  Appointed in 2022 as Artistic Director of the Washington Opera Society, Maestro Benichou has further distinguished himself by his vast knowledge of opera and classical music and has elevated the Company to new heights in the arts community of the Nation’s Capital. “We are extremely proud of Julien and speaking for the Board of Directors, the Advisory Council, and everyone associated with our Company, we offer our heartfelt congratulations”, said Founder and Executive Director, Michael Reilly.

     The Order of Arts and Letters, established in 1957 by the French Ministry of Culture, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the enrichment of the arts and literature in France and around the world.
